Provisional Press kits are made in America by a small team and is managed by Steve Garst and his wife Liz. The kit is focused on creating an affordable printing press out of high quality parts that will last thousands of prints when used properly.
The Provisional Press started out as a DIY press idea. During the COVID19 pandemic, universities started asking if we could produce kits to meet the needs of classes forced to deal with social distancing. Together with Scott Moore of Moore Wood Type, I redesigned my original press to meet specific demands all while maintaining the original goal of creating an affordable tabletop proof press.
This is not meant to replace the Showcards, Nolans, and Vandercook printing presses, but create an intermediary step to enable people to make prints without the financial commitment of the aforementioned presses.
